OFW Life: What to Wear at Work?

I am no fashionista nor a fashion blogger but I try to dress properly especially at work. I am just so thankful for little blessing because I have my own Liz Uy (a Filipina fashion stylist) who helps me with my clothes especially if I am going to some special occasion.

So what's with this blog post? I really don't know but I always feel uncomfortable whenever I see my co-workers especially our Kabayans who does not wear proper clothes at work. And when I say proper it does not mean that you need to wear signature / high end fashion brands in the office, for me I just want to see appropriate clothing.

Our company does not have a strict policy when it comes to dressing (yes!) and they encourage us to wear smart casual outfits.

See pictures below which for me is a big NO when it comes to work clothes, and these had been worn by some of my colleagues:

A maxi dress of this kind. For me this is kind'a off. Yeah you can wear this with a jacket still i find it not suitable in our office.

A ripped / tattered / battered jeans. For heaven's sake. I really find this offensive. Enough said.

A jump suit. Am I too picky? Maybe or maybe not.

For me below are the proper clothes to wear at work:

These are classic pieces. You can mix and match and still look fabulous. You don't need to own a lot of clothes just be creative enough or you can check Pinterest and Polyvore for inspirations.

A simple tip, a good blazer and a nice pumps is all you need to achieved a classy and chic look.

  1. It depends on nature of work or work place talaga. If you are working in a corporate world or office, much better to be in proper dress. And I love your choice of clothes. Me, I am working in a plant. Maputik lagi so I have no choice but to wear pants and close shoes to match out company polo shirt. But I never will I wear ripped jeans, hehe...

  3. The title should've been,"What NOT to wear at work". Para sakin, yung daster ang pinaka-disaster. Yung style nya kasi eh. Kung bet mong mag maxi dress sa office, make sure that it has the right sleeve length, or add a formal cover up para hindi mukang magbe-beach, magma-malling, or worse mamamalengke! Ermergerd.

  4. Lucky you! No dress code means freedom. But I totally agree with you that appropriate clothes should be worn when at work.

  7. I used to be so vain with clothes. We can wear casual clothes back in Qatar and UAE kasi. But since we're here in the Kingdom, waley! Tapos ang maliligayang araw hahaha! Back to oldies, Abaya it is.

  10. great choices, but i think choosing what clothes to wear would defend on what kind of work you have and the kind of people you are dealing with...
