Songs of My Life

I was doing my usual blog hopping when I stumbled Frances’ blog  and read her entry about the Song of Her Life, which got me inspired to make my own list. I know this will be hard as I love music. I love to sing (my hidden talent that should be kept hidden).

I will try to make it as my top 10 because I know that 10 will not be enough (awww). So here it is, not in order:

If You’re Not Here By My Side – Menudo

Lyrics:
If you’re not here by side
Can’t hold back the tears
I try to hide
Don’t think I can take it
I know I won’t make it
Make it without you

I know I know…I can clearly see Robby Rosa singing this (love the 80’s). Rewind to circa '87, I was on my 1st grade,  being the pabibo always, I had raised my hand when my teacher asked our class if somebody would want to participate in our school singing contest. I was like me me me!!! Pick me Teacher and luckily I got picked.

So there was I singing with so much gusto and suddenly stopped after chorus, looked at the audience, then scratched my head and said I don’t know the next lyrics anymore. I thank you.

Starting Over Again - Natalie Cole

Lyrics:
And now we’re starting over again
It’s not the easiest thing to do
I’m feeling inside again
‘Cause every time I look at you
I know we’re starting over again
This time we’ll love all the pain away
Welcome home, my lover and friend
We are starting over again….

I guess I was in Grade 3 or 4 when I fell in love with this song. I also had my first crush then (Hello Jordan B!) who broke my heart into pieces (of course he didn't know) so this song was dedicated to him.

Heaven Knows – Rick Price

Lyrics:

Maybe my love will come back some day
Only Heaven Knows
And maybe our hearts will find a way
Only Heaven Knows
And all I can do is hope and pray
‘Cause Heaven Knows…

That long haired falsetto singing guy. I fell in love with the singer first before falling in love with the song. Ohhh and this was dedicated to my crush before (J.O +). Oh well aside from that, the song was really nice. I was in 2nd year high school back then and I kept singing this in the bathroom.

I’ll Be Over You – Toto

Lyrics:
It takes some time
God knows how long
I know that I can’t forget you
As soon as my heart stops breakin’
Anticipating’
As soon as forever is true
I’ll Be Over you..

Scene: Intramuros Wall entrance with my Shawie. We were on our way to school on that fateful day (oh fateful day) and then I suddenly announced that this song was for whatever his name is and Shawie started laughing so hard and I was freaking serious like this is a matter of life and death.  You know to be young and in love...but cute kind of love.

Is it OK if I Call You Mine – Paul McCrane

Lyrics:
Is it Ok if I call you mine?
Just for a time
And I will be just fine
If I know that you know that I’m
Wanting, needing your love

Boom! I just love this song, and yes I am cheesy like that. This was my song to my should we say first boyf. So need I say more? Oh just hearing this song before made me so kilig and will start day dreaming.

Looking Through the Eyes of Love – Melissa Manchester

Lyrics:
Please don’t let this feeling end
It’s everything I am
Everything I wanna be
I can see what’s mine now
Finding out what’s true
Since I found you
Looking through to eyes of love…

Because I know I can sing this beautifully and this will be my wedding march (if ever I’ll get married which will NOT happen anytime soon). I just love it. The lyrics, the melody everything’s perfect.

In My Dreams – Reo Speedwagon

Lyrics:
We climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us, we are lost in time
And I don’t know really what it means
All I know is that you love me, In My Dreams…

I love Reo Speedwagon! I love all of their song, but hands down to In My Dreams. It reminds of my early days when I was so carefree and just enjoying whatever life brings me.

These Dreams – Heart

Lyrics:
The sweetest song is silence
That I’ve ever heard
Funny how your feet
In dreams never touch the earth
In a wood full of princes
Freedom is a kiss
But the prince hides his face
From the dreams in the mist

Okay... it should have been Alone but it became so overrated when it was sang by Anne Curtis so i had picked These Dreams instead which I really really like. The video’s nice. Big hair, fish net stockings and red lipstick, what is not to love about the 80’s?

Swept Away – Christopher Cross

Lyrics:
I never had anything happen so fast
Took one look and I shattered like glass
I guess I let it show
Cause your smile told me you knew
That you’re everything I ever wanted at once
There’s no holding this heart
When it knows what it wants
And I never wanted anything more than to know you

Because I am a cheese ball and I love this song and this melts every bone that I have in my body lastly it makes me happy, really really happy.

Beautiful Mess – Jason Mraz
Lyrics:
You've got the best of both worlds,
You’re the kind of girl, who can take down a man,
And lift him back up again,
You are strong but you’re needy,
Humble but you’re greedy,
Your style is quite selective,
Though your mind is rather reckless,
Well I guess it just suggest
That this is just what happiness is…

This is me, as simple as that (a tear fell).

Doing this made me so emotional (there's a lump in my throat as I am writing this)  though I tried hard not to be, it brought back some good ‘ol memories that I guess  will be with me for the rest of my life.
